INTRODUCTION TO NOSEWORK/ SCENTWORK
Intro Nosework Course information:
This class will be an introduction to the exciting sport of canine scentwork and is for dogs with no prior scentwork experience (or who only have had a very limited introduction to the sport).

We will cover the various organizations offering the sport, an introduction to the rules and levels of competition, the scents (target odors) used in each venue, information on how a trial is run and how to enter your dog (or know if your dog is ready to enter).
Handouts will provide information on where to purchase supplies for the sport, and all participants will receive a scented tin of Birch to take home with them.

Training: Participants will learn how to ready their dog for a search, and will be trained on how to run their dog on birch (novice, level one target odor in all venues) using containers and other training techniques.

Positive reinforcement techniques and observation skills will be stressed- ie we will train you how to observe and reward your dog in a timely manner when on scent so that they will understand the job involves sniffing.

Training strategies and “homework” (take home activities to progress your training after each class) will be provided.

There will be ample time for questions for those new to Nosework.

Through weekly exercises and take home practice sets you and your dog will advance through this fun searching, sniffing sport!

Additionally, we will do searches other than containers (the other search elements such as interiors, buried, vehicles and exteriors).

Fun Fitness Class

Whether your dog is a couch surfer, your faithful walking companion, a senior starting to lose their muscle mass and balance, or a competitive athlete, maintaining core strength is an essential component of a healthy, sound life. Core fitness exercises can be performed with any dog – from puppies to seniors. I believe this is what has kept my 15 year old dog in such great shape.

Five to ten minutes of core work a day is all it takes to make a huge difference in your dogs physical and mental health. It will increase confidence and teaches the dog how to safely control its movement.

But the best thing is the dogs love working out, much more then we do!

ENROLLMENT NOW OPEN! Beginners Fun Fitness Class

In this class you will learn Foundation Exercises that you can build on as your dog progresses. These exercises will help improve core strength, body awareness, balance and coordination. Dogs of all ages are welcome in this class from 10 weeks old to 10 years old.
